Sleepless Night

Yesterday was a downer all day, spearheaded by the decline in the stock market. I went over to Sailors Cove for awhile during the morning, but found no rielief from the stress. Later, in the early evening I woke up from a nap and made the leap into SL but stayed only a few minutes. I even missed WT last night, because after I logged on I took another nap.

Around 11pm SLT, I woke up and couldn’t get back to sleep, so I made another leap back in-world. I decided to land at Help Island and for awhile I amused myself just watching the newbies scurrying around making their discoveries, but I got bored with that pretty quickly. So, I headed over to Toby’s to just listen to some blues; music always helps me get to sleep.

Hotrodder was the only person I knew at Toby’s and he was leaving, but we exchanged greetings then I found a spot at the bar and tuned into the music. It was soothing but within minutes I found I was getting several incoming IMs. One guy just wanted the standard pre-dance information but when I wouldn’t dance he lost interest. Another guy thought I was the most “realistic” av he’d ever seen. A woman wanted to know where i got my Timberlands, but one guy was a software engineer, Serge, and we hit it off right away.

Serge has a distinguished background in software engineering and it was very easy to talk to him about a wide range of subjects. We had to talk about Russia and my lost Russian lover. It was a little awkward but it was nice to chat about that Russian way I’d come to know. I felt a little guilty hanging out with Serge because I’m so close to WT, but there is nothing I like better than meeting new people in SL and Serge is a unique individual.

I’m hoping to get back into the swing of thing in SL today, but these markets are taking out some of my best stocks and stress is high.
