Photography In Second Life

Darn! I can’t seem to stop overloading myself with projects. It seemed so simple, put some photos into a store. Well, it’s not so simple when you start decorating and trying to find the right vendor system, which I haven’t yet. NTL, this will be fun despite my grumbling. In the year or so I’ve been in SL I’ve shot over a thousands photos, a lot more, seriously, and in my exploring I’ve come across many beautiful places that are sometimes off the beaten track.

You see many photography galleries in SL, but not as many featuring actual SL photos; many photographers are more interested in showing their real life work. Showing your real life work is absolute a good idea and I’ve thought about it myself, but I’m an avatar living the avatar life and I believe I can be a good photographer here.

I believe that photography in SL is quite a bit different than in real life; like, you can change the setting of the sun! Hehe. However, I find it very difficult to adapt to the lack of in-world tools for formatting photos. When you take a photo offline to work on it you can only bring it back as a texture and this can problematic. Anyway, I’ve developed my in-world techniques and will continue to, but I believe I’ve got enough good photos to offer customers a nice selection. Below is a photo that is part of my Hosoi Ichiba collection, but is not one of the photos being sold.

In the evening, Sheridan came over to see what I’m doing at the store. Then WT arrived and we all decided to go to The Line; DJ Irongut saw us on radar and was yelling at us to get our fannies on over. Sheri figured Iron out pretty quickly, “He says just about anything he wants”. It was fun and WT danced with both Sheri and I, but I wasn’t feeling good and left early.
