Photo Study: Sailing the Molly Roger

It’s funny how things arrange themselves in Second Life. Yesterday, I was going though my closet finding things I forgot I had and trying them on. I had just put on a pirate outfit I had never even tried on before, it’s like that one Geena Davis wore in the pirate movie Cutthroat Island, when I got an IM from Kaos Usborne.

Kaos is a sailor I met last week at the Junkyard. We got to talking and he mentioned that he lives on a sailboat and, well, in real life I once had a nice 30′ ocean rigged sloop that I thought of living on, and did on the weekends and so forth. Anyway, Kaos asked if I’d like to go for a sail on a square rigged schooner and I thought this just might be perfect. Hehe.

Cap’n Kaos at the helm on the Molly Roger. Set those sheets into the wind!

Yep, that’s me up in the crow’s nest in my fancy outfit. Harrrr!

Heading out to deep but calm seas.

Heading home, is that a red sky rolling in with the night?

I’ve always loved the schooner rigging, and the square rig is just magnificent. It’s hard to find ships this large that can acutally sail in SL. Thanks Captain Kaos for a great sail! And I’ll upload the rest of the photos into my Flickr account as soon as possible.
