A rock garden is a traditional feature in a Japanese garden. It is referred to as the Dry Landscape or Karesansui Garden style, but often it is referred to as a Zen Garden. Sometimes the rock garden is the entire garden. For this reason, I have a section of my Japanese Garden set aside for a rock garden. However, I’m sorry to say, this is and has been one of the perplexing parts of my landscape since it’s inception.
When I look at the artistry of Hosoi Ichiba and the way Amiryu Hosoi has embedded her rock gardens into the natural flow of it’s surroundings, I realize how much further I have to go to really make the kind of display I want. Nonetheless, I’ve been trying out new ideas lately and at least from my point of view it is beginning to improve. Here are some recent photos.
