Sheridan Jewell and I met at Starfleet when we were noobs. She has always been kind to me and even though we don’t see each other as much as in the past, we pickup our conversations as if nothing has happened each time we do see each other. A week ago, Sheridan was promoted to full Commander at United Federation Starfleet (that’s like a silver cloverleaf insignia in the U.S. military). Here’s a picture from the promotion ceremony.
Checkout the fancy dress uniforms. You go Girl!
A mutual friend of Sheri and I, Sniper started the gag that I “washed out” of Starfleet during cadet training. The truth is I just couldn’t find the time for Starfleet activities and took a leave of absence then quit. However, I love the idea that I “washed out” and that’s my story and am sticking with it. hehe. The point is, becoming a Starfleet Commander is no small undertaking and takes a lot of commitment to make it, and takes a lot of time in grade also. Hugzzz and kisses Sheridan!
Perspective: When you have a friendship that has lasted over two years, a friendship based on the activtities here in Second Life, then you have real history, even in this pixelated world. This kind of relationship is what differientiates Residents from Visitors. Visitors and noobs come to Second Life with only their real life points of view, they can’t even see how evolved relationships can be among avatars. Like in the real world, these relationships take time and commitment.
