Confession time, I know a lot of guys here in Second Life. And, I have a sense of what guys are about and what they want. However, I still find it hard to really understand guys. I think you have to always remember that guys have hormones that can make them truly heroic on one extreme and truly crazy on the other (hehe, guess it’s the same with us women — could anything be crazier than PMS).
Not too long ago I met a guy who had been away from SL for a long time. He asked me to dance (always the perfect way to meet me, btw) and we chatted while dancing. He really liked the way I looked and we talked about how important it is to have a good shape. Then out of nowhere, he started talking about guys with overly long or overly large penises. My eyes were rolling around in my head, but then he moved the conversation to how women used to be rude to him at nude beaches. Oh my, oh my, oh my. The funny thing is, he was a nice guy, polite, not vulgar. Ntl, his conversation choices put our encounter on a track that just wasn’t going to take either of us anywhere. I did explain to him that he had a better chance of meeting a nice woman at the Junkyard than at a nude beach, but I don’t think he really understood. I was left with the impression that in his SL, willing female sex objects are always rude and unavailable.
For many reasons, I’ve concluded that I just don’t get most SL guys. Not all guys are so perplexing, but I can’t seem to get into most guys heads. I try to imagine what guys feel, but maybe it just isn’t possible. Maybe the problem is within me. I have always felt that I am a relatively sexy woman, but maybe I don’t really understand what men want. Maybe SL is simply about free sex and it will never be what I think it should be. Geesh!
If that Serge guy is right and “Men give love to get sex, women give sex to get love”, then this is a really pathetic world, this Second Life. If that’s all there is to relationships between men and women, then it’s just not worth the investment of time to really get to know anyone. Of course, SL is not Real Life, at times it seems as though it should be, but SL has barriers and intensities that make it different from RL in important ways. Even still and probably more than most avies, I try to accept the differences between men and women in SL. Even with all the complexities that can make SL men so incomprehensible at times, I still like men as people. Go figure!
So, yeah, nothing has changed sinced my post yesterday. More time in real life and less time in this place is what I need. hehe.
