Some problems are resolved with a synergistic effect. In the case of my Rock Garden, it stood alone in a large garden. It was a sideshow and really somewhat irrelevant to the notion of a strolling garden. In observing how others have displayed their rock gardens, especially the amazing work at Hosoi Ichiba, I realized that my rock garden might be part of an expanded teahouse environment. I have spent many, many hours experimenting with different designs and almost gave up on the idea during the weekend, but with the right elements I think my rock hard has found it’s home. There is still a lot of work to do, but I think this is a good fit.
It was in the wee hours when I finished the work (thank goodness Hosoi Ichiba’s store was open so I could buy the bamboo fencing).
I sat for awhile and admired the work, and then began seeing the improvements yet to be made, but that’s for another day.
