Real life always has an impact on our second life regardless of how strongly we desire to leave it behind. The weather is one of those real world influances, and this morning the weather has stirred something inspirational in my human. It’s the rain. This morning the Spring rains are here and life seems full of possibilities. You see, my human is a rain person, she loves the rain. Where most people see rain as something that spoils picnics, my human sees it as a place where the immagination lives, where the wild things are.
One of the facets of Second Life I enjoy is the writing about my experiences in this blog. Yes, in the past I’ve criticized myself for the lah-dee-dah way I write my journal entries. No, this is not literature. But the truth is, I’ve created a record of many of the events and people in my second life. And when I write about my second life I find that my fantasies become more alive.
This morning I spent some time reading the works of some of my favorite SL bloggers, especially a new blog I’ve added to my list called Backpacking Burro. HeadBurro Antfarm (HB) has done things with his blog that I have only imagined doing. He has written genuine stories that are based in his second life. I’ve always viewed my blog as a source for stories or a novel, but just the thought of taking on such a project is just more “work” than I want in my life.
I discovered HB’s work about a month ago, and immediately I could see that he had developed a format for delivering stories without baggage. HB’s “Tales” and “Files” have simply expanded my view of what is possible in Second Life, and even how I want to continue living my second life as I move forward from today.
There are many things I could say at this point. I feel like I have a new tool and I need to consider how I’m going to use it. It is a new point of view and perhaps the stories I had considered writing in the past are not right for this format. Still, I do want to move forward with a new approach to this blog. And for now, I want to enjoy more of this morning’s Spring rains.
