Summer Evening Celebration

Sunday evening Frog Levasseur debuted as DJ at the Harvest Moon Cafe. It was the 1st Summer Evening Celebration at Yordie’s Zen Garden, and the idea was for a small group of friends to dressup in Japanese/Asian theme clothing and enjoy a Japanese style Summer celebration. And the outfits were just amazing.

Reports were that Frog was very nervous before his debut, especially because I had asked him to play songs from three genres including classic rock, Motown and blues. Nervous or not, Frog took to this DJ’ing business like a frog takes to a pond. yuk, yuk. But it’s true, Frog has all the right stuff to be a DJ including a great collection of music, a great sense of what works and that seductive Liverpudlian voice of his.

My friend Takamatsu was impressed with Frog’s show and asked if it was true that this was Frog’s first performance as a DJ. I assured him it was, and Taka said, “if this is his first, hes gonna make it as a DJ. Frog knows how to spin!”

That’s DJ Frog, samurai kimono, sword and turntables spinning a great set.

There is one big regret. One of the highlights of the evening was the fireworks display by Thor. And oh my, oh my, oh my, it was a great display filling the night sky with soaring rockets and colors! Unfortunately, I was so captivated by the display I completely forgot to shoot photos. So, special thanks to Thor and apologies to Thor for not capturing the finale of the party.

It was a fun party. I was amazed again and again by the guys who really took to dressing up in samurai gear. I am now convinced that if you want to get a man into a kimono, all you have to do is give him a samurai sword. There is something about a man an his samurai sword. hehe

Thank you to the friends who help fill the tiny Harvest Moon Cafe, and helped Frog launch his inworld DJ career. And as a postscript, shortly after the party, Frog was asked to DJ three nights a week for the next two weeks at the popular Rockers club on Asago.
