I’ve written a lot about exploring and adventuring. Each year it become a more and more important part of my Second Life.

Expedition 3 – 2008: here’s Ice, Tea and Yordie exploring the sims surrounding Miramare. Yes, we dressed differently. hehe |
In the past I’ve had different ideas about how to share the exploring experience. In 2008, I formed Yordie’s Adventurers group and when I headed off on my latest adventure, I’d send out a notice and anyone in the group who was interested would join me.
That sorta worked but at the time it was a lot of trouble to keep friends together as we wandered the lands. Also, texting basically stopped everything.
In 2010, I had the idea to just IM friends when I found a new spot to share. The idea was to bring life to newly discovered, but empty areas, to share the experience. Unfortunately, I was never able to get this off the ground because it seemed that relatively few friends were online or if they were, very few were prepared to drop everything to come party. It was an idea that just didn’t make a lot of sense.
When I was partnered, we explored a lot. Also, from time to time, we’d invite friends to join us at concerts and such. The spontaneous invites worked pretty well, but it was very limited. However, we also had a winter party in 2011 that brought together a lot of elements that I’d been thinking about into a format that a lot of guests really liked. In fact, this is where some of the best ideas were formulated.
So, I’ve been thinking about this for a long time. In fact, my top two New Years Resolutions focus these ideas.
1) Explore the Grid
2) Organize Adventure Parties
A few weeks ago I had an idea. It was for a sea cruise and I started sending out a notecard with the plan. But before I could invite all my friends, I realized the party was planned for Super Bowl weekend. So I cancelled. And that was a good thing, not because it was a bad idea but because it was a very good idea and I got a very good positive response. In the time that passed, I’ve refined my idea for the party. Also, I began recruiting partners in crime, forming a new approach to adventuring.
