Taking Friends Out

I’ve become more and more active in taking friends out on adventures. Today we celebrated my bestest friend Leanna’s rez day by going on a boat ride from Marthas Vineyard to Tromp Island. When we got there we went scuba diving. That’s normally a story for my other blog, I want to take a minute to say that the Linden’s have resolve most of the region crossing issues for many viewers. Our party of six raced across 25 or more sims on the way there and only one of the crew was unceremoniously yanked into sim crossing netherworld. We had a couple problems on the way back but even still it was great. Here’s what fun on the Blake Sea looks like…

That’s our boat filled with six friends flying
across sim at top speed on the Blake Sea.
It be cool and stuff!

I’m ready to complain when the Lab messes up, but I’m also ready to give them credit when they get it right. This is a thing of beauty, this Blake Sea with functional sim crossings! Thank you Linden Lab.

  2. Well, i just removed all the viewers i had previous (Firestorm, Phoneix pre mesh, Exodus and singularity) and just instaled the latest Niran’s – v1.41.
I use 1st gear when riding my bikes and did a trip with my lovw around route 12, without crashing and the bike i used is a 1st gear fast enough;)
And today i did sailed on black sea, from corsica to Nautlius, using the Mlcc demo, my love as cimpany, again without problems..
On the bike i found that after 4 or 5 sim crossings, the camera needs to be reseted (standing and sitting on the bike solves the problem), on the boat, the speed was to slow (around 7 knots) to found a single problem.
But I started also to fly, and did a big 1, from a airport on Corsica, flying at low level to see the views, around 75pct speed, and i did have some issues when crossinf a few sims, but managed to recover (My avatar sood in the middle of the air, on a black background for a few, then i was back on the plane!)
So i can say that without the media enabled (Nira’ns for some reason dont let me see videos with quicktime!), using always full shadows and dr (can’t go back to old pale vison of second life that other viwers give), draw distance fixed at 252and all graphics set to the max but nr of avatars rendered (medium on that 1), i was getting never less then 16 fps, more then enough to drive the bike, the boat or the plane!
I took some pics of today’s Niran v1.41 1st use:)
So if any wish to check where We went (My love is using Niran’s v1.39 since 2 days ago and alos loving it:))

  3. I can say that for a fact, cross sims with Niran or firestorm are easy now, even on mainland and using all the settings on high, shadows and all, but draw distance of 410 only!
Medium fps around 20, without shadows, niran’s jumps to 60 and when racing up to 80 with )sim closed and no scripts allowed!

I’m willing to take one more try with Firestorm, but if it blows up after 5 sims at highspeed or 9 sims at slow speed then I’m giving up on Firestorm. I’ve looked at Niran and would consider it as an alternative.

Hi Foneco… Are the sim crossings in vehicles at high speed? I did a test using a scooter the other night in Bay City and it was just awful. Didn’t crash but hurled into sim crossing netherworld almost every sim.

This is for real, Vanessa. The sim crossing fix (“threaded region crossing” released in Bluesteel) works. The days of sim crossing rubberband effect or worse is gone. Some viewers seem to have problems. But one night I raced my speedboat at top speed across 80 sims and I’ve near duplicated that many times. This past weekend was my record for passengers though, previously I’d taken 5 peeps across a dozen sims. I’m almost killing the goose that laid the golden egg by revealing this. If too many peple get on those sims then I don’t know how well things would work. I kid you not.

      • haha, WOW, I had no idea. Sim crossings for me are better than they used to be, but I still get a bit of lag or something. IDK what you’ve done is even possible! WOW! 🙂

I’ve heard from friends that it’s a little rougher to cross mainland sims, like on roads. I want to try that myself soon. Maybe I’ll get some freinds together and we’ll take some cars and race across Sansara. That would be an adventure.

      • We did a 5k walk on the mainland the other day… and that actually went very well… a little bit of sim crossing effects, but no real problems. Of course I haven’t tried it at “Yordie Speeds”… hahaha… I guess I’m more Butoh / Tai Chi… and you’re more Raver / Mosh Pit! 😛
