Fleep: “They actually said things like ‘I’m not building a game. I’m building a new country.’”
That’s a quote from Chris Collins aka “Fleep” in her post “Why Anyone Who Cares About the Metaverse Needs to Move Beyond Second Life; Now, Not Later”
I think Fleep’s post bring it all into perspective. I feel Fleep’s passion. I want to build that new country. However, just to be clear, I’ve had my say.
Yordie Sands –> I’m not fleeing Second Life… just yet.
Nonetheless, I’ve registered on six other grids, Opensim, OS Grid, 3rd Grid, SpotON3D, InWorldz and even Kitely. I may register on others too. I’ll be spending time in the coming months looking at things there. All of my adventurous friends are welcome to join me as I explore. I’ll have limited time til I get settle in my new home, but I think it’s time to hedge my bets on Second Life.
Jus’ sayin’
Mera, there are breedables on several grids already (commercial ones!)
And physics engines are coming along quite fast!
That being said, i agree with you!
Sl is the place we hare and want to be, not cause of breedables in my case, but cause its unique to be able to build a house on mainland, grab a bike or plane or a boat, and go to another house 3 continents away, more then 400 sims distance, all without using a single tlp!
And races are getting really better, last weekend all the 3 races i did had more then 12 racers at a time and the lag that was insane 2 weeks ago just went away and all went smooth!
Even on Zindra, where we got a new home (As we are now both premium, we got 2048 m2 of land already, most auction 1 i bid and now a lovely spot, Apple beach, just with a dock where we can rezz our boats, 1 sims away and that we can reach from bike or walking and access to all the Zindra ocean and roads, L 20 m2, a very good deal for sure that we had the luck to find, just using the map and tlp!
But what matters is where any feels it belongs to!
I still have a piece of my heart on OSG, cause i love the community spirit that exists there and that, is Sl goes down, We already have good friends and a home there!
But my believe in SL is increasing again and more, i feel that I’m loving it much more at every day!

Been there done that since 2008 when i visited opensim first time. Opensim is great when you want to build stuff. But if u like physics, cars boats and breedable animals, forget it. Sorry, but when it comes to that they are not in the same league, yet.
So after many years in different open sim grids where i have owned my own sims, im almost 100% in Second Life. Why? Its more fun, simple as that 🙂
