It wasn’t anything special last night, but I wanted to find my way back into my second life.
There was no plan. Leanna and I were looking to head over to BAD nightclub, then see where we ended up next. Leanna had read my yesterday’s blog post and was identifying with how I was feeling, so we were looking for new things. Then Sue and I chatted a bit about changing things up a bit too. So, we all ended up over at BAD together, just dancing and carrying on.
After an hour or so, that restless thing hit us and we were ready for a new venue. Sue suggested Big Daddy’s and that sounded really great. I haven’t been to BD much in the past year. I’ve wanted to hookup and join Sue on several occassions but she was going when I was coming and vice versa. Anyway, Leanna thought it was a great idea. In fact, Leanna and I had never been to BD together, so this was a darned good idea.

That’s Leanna and Sue, left and right, looking bitchin hot,
and me in the center in my sneaks and sweats looking whatever.
Leanna is my BFF and I have a special connection with Sue, so it felt really great just hanging with the girls. The crowd at Big Daddy’s was big, like 80+ peeps. Leanna and I felt that this was a place we definitely needed to visit more often; although no one asked us to dance (like that happens much… heh). It was a good replacement for Saturday nights of the past.
I’m still stuggling with my 8:00pm SLT time barrier, I can’t seem to stay engaged much beyond that, so I bailed “early” as usual. Before leaving I remembered that Sue was hosting the following morning, so I planned on catching her show.
Sure enough, no matter how restless my sleep was, Sunday morning rolled in. I was really, really groggy even after two cups of coffee, but I wanted to catch Sue’s show. Sunday morning’s at 6:00-9:00am SLT, Sue hosts for DJ Jess Warcliffe, and at BD the DJ and Host are very much part of the show.
For some reason Lao Tsu’s maxim: “The way to do is to be” came to mind.
But as often happens, Lao Tsu reminded me of the twist offered up in the U.S. Military Academy’s Cadet Handbook: “The way to be is to do.” Most of my intellectual friends find the Handbook’s version to be a bit cheesie but in my case I think it is applicable. The way to be, to get my groove back is to do what I love to do.
I think the best way to get your groove back in Second Life is to just go out and do what I like to do. Find some friends who want to get a little change going. Find some new places to tryout or revisit some places you haven’t been in awhile and just go out and get your groove thing. I can’t say I’m back to normal yet, but I’m banking on Halloween to really turn things around.
And regardless, checkout Big Daddy’s if you haven’t been in awhile.
Oh, oh, last minute update: Halloween season began for Leanna and I last night when we went to Hotsprings “Hot” Hawker’s party at the Gypsy Camp. We were caught a little unprepared because we haven’t begun shopping for costumes yet, so we dusted off some favs and headed over. Tazzie Tuque was DJ’ing and it was good!!
Woot! I am so very glad that we were finally able to get together! I had a wonderful time…and thank you so very much for coming to see me on Sunday morning. What an absolute treat to look out and see you there! Let’s do it again! I think we can all use a little “let loose and rock it out” time!

YAY, that’s awesome, Yordie! And, just so ya know, Thursdays in October are “Think Pink Thursday”. We wear pink for breast cancer awareness. So, get your pink on and come shake your pixels with us 6pm-9pm SLT! I’ll be watching for the two of you! *hugs you tight*
