My Non-HTTP Discovery

Perhaps this is just a coincidence, perhaps some other very minor tweaks I made. What am I talking about? I’ve discovered that by turning off ‘HTTP Texture Rendering’ in Graphics Preferences on the Firestorm Viewer, I’ve resolved most of my recent performance issues. The issues I complained about in the last post — all gone.

The problem and solution doesn’t make a lot of sense but perhaps at my new home, with a new cable provider, it makes a difference. The solution that might be closer to solving the underlying problem was suggested to me by Talera. She said I might turn off my firewall. I’ll have to research what my cable provider has in place already, then check my own AV software, but I think she’s onto something. More on this soon.
