Working On The Store

Last night I spent some time shopping for Mesh furniture items. Early in the evening I went to PILOT with Sommer, then later Leanna and I returned to POST. PILOT sells an assortment of furnishings and quaint products from a warehouse, and POST sells furniture and buildings from their rustic store. And I found amazing stuff for my store!

Amazing Mesh Furniture

I’ve been very picky in buying Mesh clothes, although the designers are getting a lot better at creating Mesh fashions that actually fit my body (especially Maitreya). However, I’ve been very impressed with Mesh buildings and furniture. Checkout some of the cool things I got for the store.

I’m studying some treasure maps.
This is a 2 prim object and I got it at PILOT.

Ideas for the Business

Yesterday I thought a lot about the type of adventures I will offer. I definitely want to have scuba, boating, hiking, horseback riding, but also I want to take a plunge into steampunk. Another thing, I’ve decided that you can’t sell adventure, you can only sell expeditions and tours.

Adventure is something that happens when there’s a dose of luck, action, serendipity, danger or just the unexpected. I could create some of those elements in the way you encounter at Disneyworld or other theme parks, but I want to keep the expeditions pure.

Naturally, I’ll be selling services, but also I think I’ll write some guides on the subject. I’m thinking of asking some of the authors of adventure books if they’d like to sell them at the store. And I’ll have some posters of travel and adventure related services, like my friend Mac’s seaplane charter service.

Desperately Seeking a Logo

Outside the store there’s room for a logo. It’s small so I don’t think “Yordie’s Excellent Adventures” is gonna fit. I’m thinking maybe just “Yordie’s” will do tho. I’ve done some graphics work in the past but I’m pretty much an amateur at this. I have an idea of what I’d like it to look like, but…. geez I got so tired, soooo many things to think about.

I was up very late last night and totally wired.
So I went next door to the Sail Loft bar and
played the piano for a while to wind down.

Congratulations on your new venture – it’s a great idea that I’m sure you will have a lot of fun running. I will definitely be booking a trip soon – and will bring friends! And please, if you need any help at all, even if it’s just to bounce ideas off, please just call 🙂 Good luck.

Thanks Becky! This little venture is providing the spark i’ve been needing to reignite my interest in SL. i’m hoping it will connect all my interests and friends together. One thing I’ve been telling friends, please create a role for yourself in this thing. hehe. I’m serious htough. So yes, I’d love to talk to you and will try to catch you during the weekend (although it’s Superbowl Sunday, so maybe i’ll be offline). I’ve had so much trouble reconnecting to SL and so far, this feels like my ticket to ride. 🙂 Hugs

  2. Can’t you make a Yordie’s Excellent Adventures sign that’s bigger than the space and just cover it over with your sign board?
